Physical Therapy Treatments at N.E.W. Chiropractic, P.C.

As part of his compassionate chiropractic care, James Stegner, D.C. uses physical therapy. Your physical therapy treatments might include:

  • McKenzie Protocol and other stretching and range of motion exercises
  • Myofascial release (MFR)
  • Spinal decompression/traction therapy
  • Electrical stimulation with the TeslaMax®
  • Whole body vibration
  • Ultrasound therapy

McKenzie Protocol for Physical Therapy

The McKenzie Method includes specific types of stretching and range of motion exercises for the neck and/or low back.

Myofascial Release for Physical Therapy

Fascia is connective tissue. Fascia can tighten up and become knots of connective tissue that cause pain and discomfort. It can limit range of motion. These knots are called trigger points. Myofascial release is a treatment that pins down and stretches these trigger points.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression therapy, a type of traction, is a gentle stretching of the spine. For example, a “roller bed” is a motorized piece of equipment that can decompress the segments of the spine. It can take pressure off the spinal discs—gel-like cushions between the bones of your spine.

Further, it can reduce the pressure on nerves and segments of the spine. For example, it may be helpful in treating a herniated (bulging) disc. Moreover, it is used to treat neck pain, back pain, and sciatica. The reduced pressure increases blood flow, which brings more fluid, oxygen, and nutrients to the area. Therefore, it enhances healing.

TeslaMax® for Physical Therapy

The TeslaMax® is a cutting-edge, innovative, and unique form of electric stimulation therapy. It uses an electric current that goes in both directions (alternating current). This allows for the muscles to contract more strongly without pain and heat. This increases blood flow, allowing more oxygen, nutrients, and fluids to go to the muscles.

The TeslaMax® has been used to treat:

N.E.W. Chiropractic, PC is a play on words. N-E-W both stands for Natural Education of Wellness and for NEW—staying current with the latest treatments available. Dr. James purchases medical devices, such as the TeslaMax® and whole-body vibration platforms. These devices enable him to provide his patients with the highest quality of compassionate and modern chiropractic care.

Whole-Body Vibration

With whole-body vibration at N.E.W. Chiropractic, you stand on a vibrating platform. According to Mayo Clinic, research has shown that this can achieve the following:

  • Reduces back pain
  • Improves muscle strength
  • Decreases bone loss
  • Enhances weight loss
  • Improves strength and balance in adults

It’s a low-impact way to increase strength, flexibility, and energy. It was first used in the space program to help strengthen muscles. Today, it is used by athletic trainers and doctors. It’s an easy “workout” that you can do in street clothes. It complements strength training and aerobic exercise. It likely does this by enhancing circulation and increasing muscle strength.

This is part of N.E.W. Chiropractic and James Stegner, D.C.’s mission to stay relevant and provide the newest, most up-to-date, natural means to address health issues.

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasonic waves can decrease inflammation. N.E.W. Chiropractic uses the mechanical vibrations of ultrasound waves to stimulate inflamed areas. The resulting deep wave penetration enhances blood flow and decreases muscle tension.
